Dr. Hood’s research interest focuses on the implementation and adaptation of behavioral evidenced-based HIV prevention interventions using multimedia tools. Her general research program focuses on preventive health behaviors and promoting positive health outcomes among people of color and rural underserved populations. Her current research centers on implementing evidenced-based interventions and multi-platform condom use messaging campaigns using social media. Dr. Hood’s NIDA-funded project assesses the feasibility and acceptability of implementing a single-session evidenced-based HIV and substance use intervention with rural African American women. Dr. Hood is a member of the Culture, Race and Health Transdisciplinary Core at the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed) at VCU, working with a team of researchers and community partners to at examine and address health disparities in our community.
