Alumni spotlight
Dr. Goings is an associate professor (with tenure) of social work at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research is on substance use trajectories of biracial adolescents and young adults, a very under-researched but growing population. She has been recognized with several honors and awards for her outstanding achievements including the Society for Social Work and Research Early Career Award (2015). Dr. Goings is a PI or Co-PI on several NIH and other externally funded grants. She is PI on a K-Award on substance abuse trajectories and health outcomes of monoracial and biracial Blacks (funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse). She is a Co-PI on a grant titled Vulnerability to Drug Use and HIV (funded by the National Institute on Drug Use).
